Well last week was super busy for me with a lot of meetings, so I'm finally getting around to my recipe from last week.
This week I chose to make Breadsticks. I've always wanted to, and this was a super easy recipe!
1 1/2 cups warm water (between 110 - 120 degrees F)
1 package active dry yeast
4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
In a large bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water and allow to sit for 10 minutes, covered. Mixture should be frothy.
In separate bowl, combine flour and salt.
1 package active dry yeast
4 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
In a large bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water and allow to sit for 10 minutes, covered. Mixture should be frothy.
In separate bowl, combine flour and salt.
Check out that frothy yeast. Next time I'll put it in a bigger bowl or container!
Next add it to the flour & salt mixture! Add to yeast mixture. Add melted butter. Mix with paddle attachment of stand mixer or wooden spoon until fully combined.
Grease a cookie sheet. Pull off pieces of dough and roll into strips. If I were to make them again, I would make them thinner and more off them. Next time, I'll use two cookie sheets, and place them like 2 inches apart.
Cover the dough and allow to rise for 45 minutes - 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, then pop in the breadsticks. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
In the microwave combine the following:
1 stick unsalted butter (or 1/2 cup margarine)
2 teaspoons garlic powder2 teaspoons saltAfter 6 or 7 minutes, brush the bread sticks with half the butter mixture.
When you remove the breadsticks from the oven, add the melted butter mixture again.
These were super amazing and incredible. And way too easy to make! It's actually like a new necessity each time I make spaghetti or lasagna!
*One thing that would make this way better, would be to have my favorite sister, D, here to eat it with! Love you! ;) - from D*
These look especially good! Well done!
